WINTER NATUREFEST
Winter NatureFest, an annual nature festival in February, celebrates winter and all the activities that one can do outside as well as indoor activities.  The theme this year is "Winter PastTimes" - what was winter like for people in the early 1900s?  What did they do without cell phones and CD players?  Come spend a day enjoying winter - like it was in 1900 - at Havenwoods State Forest located on the northwest side of Milwaukee, 237 acres of open and wood land, and an Environmental Education Center.

Cadiz Springs Snowshoe Walk & Wine Tasting

This event will be a unique opportunity to sample wine and Green County cheese, enjoy the beautiful wooded hills of the state recreation area, and get some winter exercise all at the same time. There will be a campfire at the end. WI State Parks vehicle admission sticker is required. Proceeds from the day will be used to help purchase new playground equipment for the park. Snow shoes are optional. If there is no snow we will have a lovely winter hike instead.

Opening Day at Heritage Hill Celebrating the 35th Anniversary
Great things are happening at Heritage Hill….This year Heritage Hill is celebrating its 35th Anniversary on our opening day of Saturday, May 12. Enjoy our annual sheep shearing activities, historic baseball game, children’s crafts and pony rides. Timeline exhibits and building models representing the growth of Heritage Hill will be new this year.

Heritage Hill is honoring moms with FREE admission for Mother’s Day! Bring your mom and the entire family and enjoy the picturesque scenery of Heritage Hill. You’ll be able to view buildings representing three centuries of Northeastern Wisconsin history. Plus you can interact with historic guides representing the four themed areas of the park.

Memorial Day – A Soldiers Remembrance
Heritage Hill honors veterans and current military personnel as they pay tribute to our fallen heroes. A brief memorial service begins at 10:00am followed by the park opening. The park will be open until 4:30pm.

9AM: Nature Walk 
 On Trail starting at Amery Trailhead Pavilion in Soo Line Park.

12 Noon: Bike Ride on the Trail
Starting at Amery Trailhead Pavilion in Soo Line Park, head west to Lotus Lake Park & back.  approx 28 mile trip, 3-4 hours at a casual speed with a couple of wayside stops.  (You are welcome to shorten the trips as much as you would like by simply turning back at your so you can stay in your comfort zone.)  Wild life watching and bird watching are great this time of the year.

Civil War Reenactment
Heritage Hill State Historical Park is pleased to welcome re-enactors from across the state for its Civil War Re-enactment weekend. The event is on Saturday, June 23, 2012 and Sunday, June 24, 2012 and runs from 10 am until 4:30 pm each day. Visitors will have the opportunity to view demonstrations of Civil War life from both the military and civilian perspectives including the weapons they used. A special treat for the youth is an opportunity to become a soldier for a part of the day, complete with marching, training and eating lunch with your fellow Civil War soldiers.

Hops on the Hill Beer & Food Tasting
On Thursday, July 12, 2012 from 6:00 PM-8:30 PM Heritage Hill State Historical Park and Dean Distributing present the 5th Annual “Hops on the Hill” beer and food tasting to benefit Heritage Hill’s Educational Programming. Sample 35 craft brews from Dean Distributing and 13 of your favorite Green Bay restaurants will have food for you to try. There will be a live auction and live music so come on in for a wonderful fun evening and help raise funds for our educational programming!

Laura Ingalls Wilder Days
On July 28-29, 2012 at Heritage Hill State Historical Park, Laura Ingalls Wilder’s classic Little House books will come to life. Activities from Laura’s books include: chores on the farm, historical games, and a school lesson. Demonstrations include: bullet making, blacksmithing and historical meal preparation. Guest appearance this year is Alison Arngrim “Nellie” from the hit TV series Little House on the Prairie. So come and enjoy a memorable day like Laura would have experienced!

A Heritage Hill Christmas
Celebrate the Christmas season on December 8 and again on December 15, 2012 in a breathtaking setting by trying historical dancing, crafts, and holiday baking on the farm. Relive Christmases Pasts as you listen to Christmas stories, learn about a yule log and visit with St. Nick. Listen as the music of the season fills the air and warms the hearts of guests young and old. Enjoy horse drawn wagon rides for $1.00 per person.
