August 8, 2009 Milwaukee	Hank Aaron State Trail 5k Run/Walk Plans are well underway for the 10th Annual Hank Aaron State Trail 5k Run/Walk which our Friends group will sponsor on Saturday, August 8.  We anticipate that this year’s event will set a new attendance record – exceeding the 1,300 of 2008! Honoring “Hammerin’ Hank” whose major league career started with the Milwaukee Braves, the Hank Aaron State Trail covers seven miles through the Menomonee Valley, linking Lake Michigan to Miller Park.  In addition to providing recreational and educational opportunities, the Trail serves as a commuting corridor between downtown Milwaukee and the western side of the city.  Over the next few years, the Trail will be extended 5½ miles via a former railway corridor beginning near Miller Park and connecting to the Oak Leaf Trail at the Milwaukee/Waukesha County Line.
